Alexandra Torres-Perez

Alexandra is a Reporter and Producer for WAAY 31.

Title: Reporter/Producer/Anchor

Alex has always wanted to be a reporter. Her parents would tell her, as a kid she was constantly doing “research,” back when the Internet was just dial-up. She loved learning about what was happening in the world.

She grew up on the small island of Puerto Rico before moving to Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 10. She lived in Jacksonville until she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of North Florida.

During college, she was the managing editor of the school newspaper Spinnaker. She was also the video production assistant for the Department of Communications, director for Inside Jacksonville and director of communication for the Latin American Student Organization. She also had the opportunity to intern with WJXT-News4Jax where she developed her skills.

As she continued to study journalism, she realized she had a true passion for news.
Alex enjoys telling people’s stories in front of the camera and enjoys behind the camera work. Producing and creating the whole picture of the story is just as exciting.

She is thankful that WAAY 31 has given her the opportunity to experience both worlds. Alex joined WAAY 31 in June 2018 as a producer and reporter. She is currently the producer and anchor of WAAY 31 En Español.
