A Florence woman is behind bars after police said she attacked a store clerk and officers who came to arrest her.

Jacqueline Williams, 53, is facing numerous charges for the incident that happened Wednesday at Store-N-Deli on Cedar Street.

Police said they were called to the store on a report that a woman was cursing and throwing things at the clerk. When they arrived and approached Williams, police said she attacked one of the officers with a rock. She also spit on officers while being taken into custody, they said.

The officer had facial injuries and a chipped tooth as a result of the attack, police said.

Williams was charged with second-degree assault, public intoxication, two counts of assault with a bodily fluid, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief.

She was jailed in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on $11,000 bond.
