A Valley Head man caught the attention of the FBI for his use of a popular social media app to have inappropriate activity with minors, DeKalb County authorities said Tuesday.
James Hulgan, 43, is accused of using the messaging app Kik for interactions with minors, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said the FBI alerted them recently about the interaction.
Kik is an Android and iOS app that allows users to connect with others without using a phone number.
Deputies searched Hulgan's home on County Road 751 Monday and charged him with two counts of possessing obscene matter containing visual depiction of a person under 17.
Hulgan is a registered sex offender in DeKalb County, authorities said.
He was in jail awaiting bond Tuesday afternoon.
