State Trooper hospitalized after I-65 wreck

They're being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

An Alabama State Trooper was involved in an accident near the 350 mile marker of of Interstate 65 in Limestone County. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says the trooper was assisting a disabled commercial vehicle when their vehicle was rear-ended and crushed into the disabled vehicle in front of it. The Trooper was taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by a convoy of law enforcement vehicles that shut down roads along the way.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office, in a Facebook post, said the Trooper was "working an accident" and taken to the hospital for treatment.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Morgan County Sheriff's Office writes: "Our prayers are with the State Trooper injured while working on I-65 just north in Limestone County.

"PLEASE pay attention and Move Over and Slow Down when emergency vehicles are present!"

Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said multiple vehicles were involved in the wreck.

Both lanes of I-65 south were closed for hours near the crash at US 72, but have since reopened.
