UPDATE: Special agents with the State Bureau of Investigation said they are investigating a shooting involving the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. In a release, it states one person was injured in the traffic crash but no officers were injured. The investigation is ongoing and once complete, findings will be turned over to the Ninth Circuit District Attorney's Office.

PREVIOUS ARTICLE: The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a DeKalb County Sheriff's Office deputy was involved in a shooting on Wednesday night on Interstate 59.

Neither the deputy nor the suspect were injured, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect is in custody.

Details of any crimes, including the name of the suspect, have not yet been released. Earlier Wednesday, law enforcement described the crime only as "an incident" involving two vehicles that closed northbound lanes of Interstate 59 between Fort Payne and Collinsville for several hours.

The state investigation is regular procedure when a law enforcement officer is involved in a shooting.
