A man from Jackson, Tennessee is now behind bars in Limestone County after Athens police say he took a man's car at a Burger King after the driver took him to Walmart as a favor.
Kendrick Lamar McCord, 19, was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery stemming from an October 23 report of a car theft on South Jefferson Street. Police say McCord asked a driver to take him and two others to the Athens Walmart so he could obtain a money order. When the driver brought the three back to Burger King, the occupants attacked the man and took his car.
Police say they received word from the Metro Nashville Police Department that officers there located the stolen vehicle later that night. The Nashville officer stopped McCord, and he was arrested after trying to run away from police.
McCord remains in the Limestone County Jail where bond is set at $10,000.
