A two-vehicle crash Monday claimed the life of a Jackson County man.

William Lee Gifford, 30, of Section was killed when the 2014 Yamaha motorcycle he was operating collided with a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, said Trooper Curtis Summerville, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesperson.

Gifford was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

At the time of the incident, Gifford was being pursued by local law enforcement officers, Summerville said.

The crash occurred at 8:45 p.m. on Alabama 35 at the 39 mile marker three miles south of Section.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
