Saturday night's strong winds caused a lot of damage at Brooks High School and other parts of Killen.
The Brooks High School football fieldhouse had substantial roof damage. The softball and baseball dugouts also had roof damage, and many trees were down in the area.
School officials said they don't know the cost to repair all of this just yet because they are waiting for a quote from their insurance company.
"The big thing is that everything can be fixed and everybody is safe," said Brooks High School head football coach Brad Black. "We all spent thousands of hours in that building. It hurts."
Crews were busy Monday taking down the damaged roof of the field house. A structural engineer is expected to come in and let them know if the field house can be repaired.
"It's still kind of up in the air on what all is going to happen, but as you can see structurally it got the roof on the field house," said Black.
Other crews were busy cleaning up downed trees at Brooks High School and clearing the areas near the dugouts that also took a hit. Killen Corner Drug Store also had roof damage on a part of the building used for storage.
Killen Tire and Alignment had a tree go through its building. Lauderdale County Emergency Management told WAAY 31 the National Weather Service has not been out to survey the damage because they believe straight-line winds could have caused the damage.
"Our county has done a really good job helping us get everything down and get everything out," said Black.
The school system said once they get an exact cost on the damage it will release an exact figure.
