The Alabama State Parks paid tribute to a fallen World War II sailor lost at sea almost 75 years ago.
The hiking and biking trail at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville has been re-named to the 'William Arthur Wells Trail.'
Robert Wells donated 40 acres of the land, including the trail to honor his brother, William Wells.
His name is engraved in the CCC Memorial stone near the trail.
"He was lost in the second battle for the Philippines in Leyte Gulf in the second World War. He went down in the USS Hoel and that's the last we heard of him," said Robert Wells.
The trail was formerly called Chestnut trail before it became renamed today.
