A man is in jail for critically wounding another man during a fight at a Florence gas station, police said.

Khadedryck Todd, 23, was arrested Monday evening and charged with first-degree assault for the fight at a Chevron station.

Witnesses told police Todd was arguing with Anthony Coleman, 21, inside the gas station around 6:45 p.m. Monday. The argument turned into a fight in the parking lot. Todd hit Coleman in the head and knocked him to the ground, police said. Witnesses told officers that Todd went to his vehicle to leave but then returned to where Coleman was laying and started hitting him in the head again.

Coleman was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital and was in critical condition at last check, police said.

Todd was jailed on $50,000 bond.
