Madison County school bus drivers are preparing now for the start of a new school year.
The school district has always opted to own and operate their own school buses rather than contracting with a company.
The district also manages and maintains their fleet of buses.
Right now, the district runs 221 buses daily. All of the buses on the regular school routes are equipped with air conditioner, with the exception of some of the backup school buses.
Superintendent Matt Massey says the district doesn't expect for the school bus routes to be much different this year versus last year.
"The bus routes in the morning the first couple weeks, the times will vary of pick up times, so we ask a little bit of patience from parents on that," said Massey.
The district is also responsible for hiring their own bus drivers and they still have some openings for drivers.
