Lauderdale County Schools students and teachers will return for the new school year on Aug. 24.
The system’s plan for the new year allows parents to choose either traditional in-class or online learning.
Students on school buses will have assigned seats.
The plan provides the following guidance about traditional and online learning:
Traditional/on-campus school changes
Students will be divided into two groups, Group “A” and Group “B” as determined by each school. Siblings will attend traditional school together.
● Mondays/Tuesdays — Students in Group “A” will attend traditional/on-campus learning and students in Group “B” will participate in remote, at-home learning.
● Wednesday — All students will learn remotely using e-learning this day. We will clean classrooms and have online office hours.
● Thursdays/Fridays — Students in Group “B” will attend traditional/on-campus learning and students in Group “A” will participate in remote, at-home learning.
Virtual, at-home school changes
● Students whose Parents/Guardians have registered for the Lauderdale County Virtual School will have an option to come back to traditional/on-campus school. Parents/Guardians will be contacted by LCSS staff about your options.
The district provided the following guidance about masking:
"On July 29, 2020, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey extended her state mask order through August 31, 2020, at 5 p.m. The requirement for masks at school includes all staff, employees, and students in grades 2-12."
