Update: Traffic is flowing again.
Huntsville police say the driver of a Chrysler Sebring was driving south in the the area of Highway 431 and Dug Hill Road when she lost control of her vehicle and crossed into northbound traffic. They say the driver of the other vehicle, a Nissan Murano, was heading north on Highway 431 and struck the other vehicle on its passenger side.
Police say the Chrysler Sebring spun around and came to a stop facing south in the northbound lanes. The Chrysler Sebring went over the guardrail and landed on the other side of it in the northbound lanes.
The driver of the Chrysler Sebring was taken to Huntsville Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Nissan Murano was brought to the hospital in critical condition.

Three people are being taken to the hospital, according to Captain Frank McKenzie with Huntsville Fire and Rescue.
McKenzie says two women in one vehicle have non-life-threatening injuries. A woman in another vehicle was critically injured after her vehicle went over the side rail, Don Webster, a spokesperson for Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, says.
According to McKenzie, two people were entrapped in the wreck, one in each vehicle.
The vehicle that went over the side rail had to be secured to a Huntsville Fire and Rescue vehicle to prevent it from sliding down the embankment. It went over the guardrail and is on other side of it.
Police say westbound lanes heading into Huntsville are blocked on Highway 431 S at Cove Creek due to a wreck.
