Huntsville Fire and Rescue respond to grass brush fire at landfill

The department received the call about a small fire at 4:15 a.m.

UPDATE:

The fire call came in about 4:15 a.m., said Capt. Frank McKenzie, Huntsville Fire & Rescue spokesman.

He said it was a surface fire of about 400 square yards.

Four fire trucks responded and worked with Solid Waste Disposal to extinguish the fire. Solid Waste use bulldozers and a water tanker truck.

McKenzie said the scene was cleared about 5:50 a.m.

Huntsville Fire and Rescue has units on the scene of a small grass brush fire at a landfill in South Huntsville.

This is on Leeman Ferry Road off of Airport Road and Johnson Road.

We are working to learn more details on the fire.
