Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver says a Cullman man is behind bars facing a kidnapping charge following a multi-state pursuit.

WAAY 31 sister station WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi reports Curtis Bakley, 29, was caught after authorities say he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend, 24-year-old Angelica Harris, near Decatur.

Authorities say Bakley was driving at a high rate of speed on Alabama Highway 24 east of Russellville, and deputies tried to pull him over. A pursuit ensued, and Harris held up a note on her side of the car stating she was being held against her will.

Oliver told WTVA Bakley was gesturing that he had a gun and used his hand and finger to symbolize he had a gun pointed at her head. This is when he rammed a patrol car before entering Itawamba County, Mississippi.

Authorities set up a roadblock near Tremont where they were able to stop Bakley before he gave himself up.

Franklin County jail records show Bakley is charged with kidnapping, assaulting a police officer.

His bond is set at $250,000.
