Huntsville Fire and Rescue have put out a fire at the Huntsville City Landfill on Leeman Ferry Road.
The call came in around 2:45 Thursday morning. When officials arrived to the scene, they found a fire burning in a pile of garbage. Crews were concerned the fire could burn for a long period of time but were able to extinguish the flames just after 5:15 AM. We have learned there are no injuries and no equipment has been damaged. Landfill workers stayed on scene throughout the morning to monitor hotspots.

Work at the landfill is not impacted by the early morning fire. Huntsville City Landfill has not released the cause of the fire at this time.
