WAAY 31 is compiling a list of events and meetings cancelled or postponed in North Alabama due to concerns about coronavirus.

The Alabama Department of Public Health announced the state’s first coronavirus case in Montgomery County on Friday. Read more here

  • Church services
    • All Refuge Church campuses will be closed Sunday March 15
    • The Big Bass Splash scheduled for March 27-29 has been rescheduled for June 12-14 at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro.
    • Whitesburg Baptist Church has canceled all services and activities through March 28. Livestream is available 9:30 a.m. Sundays HERE.
    • The Crappie Kids Fishing Rodeo for Saturday, April 11 at Riverfront Park in Sheffield is canceled.
    • Willowbrook Church has cancelled services March 15 and 22. You can livestream the 9:15 service at HERE.
    • Central United Methodist Church in Decatur church activities and worship ceremonies canceled through March 20. This Sunday's service will be live streamed online on Facebook Live.
    • Religious services at the Bicentennial Chapel at Redstone Arsenal have been canceled until further notice
    • Balance For Life classes cancelled at United Methodist Church in New Hope until May 3 or further notice.
    • Central Baptist Church in Decatur, AL will not have worship services at the church on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
    • First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Huntsville has cancelled Sunday services March 15 and 22.
    • All campuses of Clements Baptist Church will relocate services tomorrow to our online campus at clementsbaptist.org
      Hillwood Baptist Church, Huntsville will not meet on Sunday, March 15 or on Wednesday, March 18. A message from the pastor will be on Hillwood's Facebook page Sunday.
    • Rock Family Worship Center (all campuses) will be closed Sunday, March 15, to honor Governor Ivey's declaration. The church will have online services at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. as usual
    • All services and activities for Huntsville First United Methodist Church for Sunday, March 15th are cancelled.
    • Trinity United Methodist Church, 607 Airport Rd SW HSV 35802 Closing worship services and all activities starting Sunday, March 15.
    • Trinity Child Development Center will be closing Wednesday, March 18 and will reopen on Monday, April 6.
    • First Baptist Church Decatur cancels all services on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
    • Both campuses of Cove Church (Hampton Cove and Chase) will be holding online only services throughout the rest of the month of March. Viewers can tune in on our app or at covechurch.live
    • CrossPointe Church in Madison has canceled all services and will live stream services at 9:15 and 10:35 Sunday mornings.
    • All services at Harmony Hill Church of God, Fayetteville, TN will be cancelled March 15 due to concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
    • United Church of Huntsville - 7906 Whitesburg Dr, Huntsville, AL - Worship and all other church activities suspended until further notice
  • Municipal/State Functions
    • Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks is canceling all organized recreational activities at City of Athens facilities through at least March 20. The Athens Recreation Center will be closed for public use during this time.
    • Huntsville District 4 Town Hall cancelled for March 16.
    • Scottsboro Public Library to shut down from close of business March 18 through April 6
    • Huntsville District 5 Town Hall originally scheduled for March 17 has been rescheduled to March 23 at 6 p.m.
    • Youth and adult sports leagues/programs by the City of Madison have been suspended until March 29. There will be an evaluation of the status of each program at that time.
    • Trials have been suspended in Madison and Limestone counties (Read more here)
    • The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles will reschedule 102 parole hearings planned for the week of March 16.
    • The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce is postponing the annual State of the City Address until later this spring
    • Huntsville Police will be postponing the 12th Session of The Citizen’s Academy that was to start April 14th.
  • Other Events
    • City of Athens is suspending curb side recycling services until further notice. Citizens can still take their recycling to the Athens-Limestone Recycling Center on Lucas Ferry Road south of U.S. 72. Once the vendor is able to operate its facility, the City will notify residents.
    • WhistleStop Weekend 2020 that was scheduled for May 1-2 has been cancelled.
    • The 2020 Panoply Arts Festival has been cancelled due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
    • The Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau says the guided walking tours scheduled for each Saturday in April are now cancelled.
    • The Trash Attack scheduled for April 4 has been postponed until further notice.
    • The Empty Bowl Luncheon scheduled for April 8 has been postponed and possibly cancelled.
    • AUSA Global Force Symposium is cancelled
    • Huntsville Havoc remaining games are suspended
    • 36th Annual International Symposium on Child Abuse is cancelled
    • Parkway Place Mall in Huntsville is cancelling or postponing planned events, including the seasonal Easter Bunny photo program
    • Huntsville St. Patrick’s Day Parade is cancelled
    • All upcoming Huntsville Area MPO meetings are postponed until further notice.
    • Worlds of Work Career Expo at Calhoun Community College postponed
    • Torch Technologies postponed its Huntsville ribbon cutting
    • Rosetta James Foundation postponed its annual event in Huntsville
    • National Children’s Advocacy Center cancelled its Huntsville child abuse event
    • Unclaimed Baggage will postpone its 50 Years 50 States Road Tour anniversary celebration and launch event
    • The Light the Fountain event at University of North Alabama will be postponed until the fall semester
    • The Huntsville Club of Kiwanis West Pancake Breakfast scheduled for March 21 at Mayfair Church of Christ has been postponed 
    • The Vaughn Braun Astronomical society's Saturday programs have been suspended
    • VFW’s Handgun Familiarization Class
    • Rural Workforce Seminar at Northeast Alabama Community College
    • As Close As Family, Ribbon Cutting
