The Decatur Police Department is looking for a suspect after a Thursday murder.

Jones was killed about 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Decatur Place Apartments, 304 Courtney Drive SW.

Officers arrived on scene and located Jones outside of Apartment Building F with gunshot wounds, said Emme Long, police spokesperson.

Jones was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Fuqua is asked to contact Violent Crimes Detective Sean Mukaddam at (256) 341-4617 or

If seen in public, do not approach Fuqua.

This is believed to be an isolated incident, Long said. The investigation is ongoing.

Fuqua has a lengthy rap sheet. According to court documents, he is currently out on bond for misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment and attempting to elude on Oct. 28.

Fuqua was sentenced to eight years in prison for domestic violence and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. He was just released in May.

A friend and former classmate to Jones, Ambria Beckham, shared a message with WAAY 31.

"No matter what he faced, he would still make sure you’re okay. I just can’t picture someone walking up, taking a sweet soul like his," Beckham said. "It takes a cold-hearted individual to do something to someone like that. I don’t wanna remember Jarmaine like this. I wanna remember him as our protector, funny, outgoing friend that he was.”
