DeKalb County Coroner Tom Wilson says five people were killed in a mobile home fire.
Cartersville firefighters tell WAAY 31 they got the call at 9:18 Thursday morning. The fire happened near Highway 75 on County Road 927.
An investigation is underway with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Alabama Fire Marshal and Jacksonville University Department of Forensic Sciences. Officials are still at the scene more than 24 hours after the fire started.
Members in the community say the five people killed were a family. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office has not released the cause of the fire or the names of the victims.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Ider police, Tri-Community Fire, Flat Rock Fire, Higdon Fire and Henager Fire all assisted.
