Students at the Decatur campus of Calhoun Community College teamed up with the U.S. Space and Rocket Center to refurbish a replica of the lunar moon rover.
The replica is being refurbished to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. Team members say it is a great opportunity for students to take part in such a historical event.
"I think most everybody in Huntsville has either worked on the Apollo program or they know someone who has. So I think that’s going to be interesting for people to get to see more of what the rover looked like that went to the moon not just reproduction," said Elizabeth Morris, Flight Deck team leader.
Students will be working on the lunar rover replica through November 2018 and the rover will tour the world in early 2019.
