When you do something that hasn't been done in a decade, people will take notice. 

After leading the Alabama A&M softball team to a 21-18 overall record, their first 20-win season in the last decarde, and a share of the SWAC East Division championship, head coach Nakeya Hall was named the SWAC Coach of the Year on Monday. 

Along with the honors for Hall, the Bulldogs also landed four players on the All-SWAC team. 

Shortstop Taina Sanders made the All-SWAC first-team after racking up 52 hits, 42 RBIs and 11 home runs. 

Ariel Smith, Tamia Lee-Barbadillo and Lauren Hayden rounded things out for Alabama A&M on the second-team. 

Smith, a Huntsville, Ala. native, hit six home runs and had 26 RBIs on the year with a .298 batting average and a .538 slugging percentage. 

Lee-Barbadillo earned second-team honors in large part for her defensive efforts.  She was outstanding at second base with a .948 fielding percentage in all 40 games and wasn't too shabby at the plate, hitting .371 on the year with six home runs. 

Hayden, a pitcher, posted a 3.53 earned run average, good for seventh in the SWAC and posted a 10-4 record in 20 appearances. 

Next up for the Lady Bulldogs is a trip to Montgomery on Wednesday for the first round of the SWAC Tournament where they'll face Prairie View A&M at 9 a.m. CT.
