Christmas came early for 83 first graders at Morris P-8 Elementary School in Huntsville Wednesday.

The Army Contracting Command on Redstone Arsenal stopped by to donate presents to the entire first grade class as part of the Army's adopt a school program.

The first graders created a wish list and put their clothing sizes on it.

Then military members, staff, and civilians on the arsenal donated all the presents through an angel tree program.

This is the 4th year the army has paired with Morris Elementary for the event.

This year they handed out roughly 300 presents.

The military members involved said the reaction from the kids makes it all worth it.

"You come into an environment, you don't necessarily know these kids, or how their christmas may unravel, but if you can do something, even a small thing like this; it seems like a small thing, but it's really a huge thing in their world and so when you see their faces you get choked up," said General Paul Pardew.

The Army chose Morris Elementary for the adopt a school program because its close to the arsenal and they saw how much the families of the students need a little extra help around the holidays.
